Kate goes to prom!

This weekend, I did something that I have not done in 7 years. I went to prom! No, I did not go as anyone's date. My friend Kate is a high school teacher and asked if I would help chaperone and so that's what I did! Over the past few weeks, Kate was pretty stressed out with prom planning (she was the prom advisor) and so I told her that I would be her "prom slave"! We commenced with "proming" at 11:00 am!! We had to run errands and decorate and coordinate and all that kind of stuff! It was awesome! The theme was "Midnight in Monte Carlo" so she had a portion of the prom hall designated as a Casino. My job was to run a black jack table. The most interesting part of the evening was listening to the other chaperones talk about prom. You could tell who had a good prom experience and who didn't by their attitudes towards the event. I, personally, had a delightful prom! So, thanks needs to be extended to my prom date, Kyle, where ever you are...thanks! But it was fun to see the kids dressed up and enjoying one of their final high school experiences. It made me thankful that I had such a lovely high school experience... it also made me thankful that I am not in high school anymore!

Isn't chaperoning a dance crazy? It made me feel so old when I did it.

Surprisingly, I had fun at both of the proms I went to. I still look back on them fondly. Weird.

Okay, I'm off to cook dinner. Hooray for stir fry!

yeah, I felt really old. When we were decorating, some girls on the prom committe came and I said, "Are you girls excited, it's your prom?!" and they looked at me like I was really uncool and said, "yeah, I guess". I felt really old and uncool at that moment!

Yeah for Prom Slaves!!! I couldn't have survived Saturday without Kate's help. I guess decorating all those wedding reception halls has really paid off!

By the way, all of the students said they has a great time and that all of my church friends are "really fun."

Also, one teacher said she has seen 23 proms...and this one was one of the best!

Thanks again Kate Baker! You are decorator extraordinare!
